Because there is wisdom in a crowd. James Surowiecki said so in his book The Wisdom of Crowds, and it's true. I've been a member of one book group or another for the past 20 years. Some have succeeded beautifully. Others have fallen apart. Over the next few weeks I'll share some of my book group experiences with the hope of helping you make your book group as informative and enjoyable as possible. 

A book group is a group like none other. You and your fellow members are united for one purpose ... to discuss the book at hand. And so you do. And if you're like me you'll leave having learned something you didn't know before. Then you'll spend the next few hours (even when you should be sleeping) thinking about it all. Next time you'll meet for another book, and even if the very same people show up again, the conversation will never be quite the same.  How cool is that?
